Our story

30 years ago Paul O’Brien set up his own roofing company covering Bristol and North Somerset.

Today the company operates from Bristol and is one of the most established roofing companies in the region. Paul O’Brien Roofing, which employs only the most highly experienced and well-trained roofers, has completed prestigious contracts in and around the West Country and South Midlands. “We have gained a reputation for reliability and commitment to our customers” said Paul O’Brien.

As a result of this, most of their work has been through referrals from satisfied customers, both private house owners and commercial concerns.

The company carries out all kinds of domestic and commercial roofing work from new builds to restoration of small works and large contracts. It has become increasingly well known for specializing in tiling, slating and lead work for heritage of listed buildings, churches etc.

Recent contracts have included ‘The Old entrance’ to the City of Bristol, St John the Baptist Church as well as extensive flat roofing contracts at Rolls Royce. Working on such large products has continued to fortify the brand and enabled us to cultivate partnerships with architects; enabling us to develop a deeper understanding of listed and older buildings.

Workmanship

We currently employ over 40 staff, 30 of which are professional roofers. All of our fixers are competent with leadwork, slating and flat roofing skills. We expect our tradesman to communicate effectively and professionally with clients i.e. advising when we will arrive on site, informing on job progress and when works are completed. A site supervisor will check the quality of the work and ensure that the contract specification is fulfilled and client happy, only then will the job be marked as ‘completed’.

Site setup

A great deal of care is taken to set up a site; the priority being health and safety. Our workers adhere strictly with H.S.E. guidelines throughout all projects. Once a site is ‘safe’ for work to begin, we promote working efficiency on and around the site, ensuring organised and diligent work is takng place in accordance with a pre-specified timetable.

Planning and design

Paul O’Brien Roofing & Building also provide an in-house planning and design service for loft conversions, domestic extensions and associated project work. The company is able to provide customers with individual planning advice on any particular project which requires planning input or where a planning application needs to be submitted to the local planning authority.

Very often this can be a cost effective way of providing a one-stop-shop for your development proposal and can be incorporated into the cost of the work or for a nominal fee rather than use a separate architect or planning consultant.

The company utilises the services of a Chartered Town Planner, who is a Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute with over 16 years of professional experience in both the public and private sector.
