This has been one of our largest projects to date and has given this particular listed building a contemporary feel whilst still maintaining the character and charm of the original building.
The ‘Fairlawn Primary School project’ is a complete refurbishment of what was formerly ‘Fairfield Grammar School’ in Bristol.
Our contract with Skanska was to renew all roof coverings to the whole of the school building comprising to around 30000 tiles (Approximately 2800 square metres); whilst adhering to Skanska’s exceptionally high levels of health and safety-which was necessary for this particular type of project.
This was an extremely challenging project as the building is Victorian, ageing from 1898 and is split over forty-eight individual roof elevations including flat, pitched and bonnet roofs.
The project also included renewal of all lead valleys, soakers and box gutters including some very intricate lead details.
In working with this major contractor, we received great feedback of all the work undertaken and also established a good relationship with them for potential future projects.
